As part of the project we want to showcase the local routes and paths that you can use to get about by bike. Some routes will feel quieter and safer meaning there's an opportunity to attract more people to cycling.
More cycle routes are popping up in BS5, safer corridors and things like cycle hanger storage on the road to support bike riding. It's part of a journey towards helping more people cycle.
The project is a collaboration between St George Active Travel group, St George community centre and Bike Bristol with funding thanks to Bristol City Council.

Cycle Confidence
Are you interested in cycling more? We have Learn to Ride sessions available or cycle confidence classes in the park.
Learn to Ride: Perhaps you've never ridden a bike - we can teach you, sometimes within just one hour!
Cycle Confidence: Usually largely based in th park, we will develop control of brakes and gears, signalling etc to make sure you're ready for the road.
Cycle Skills: More of an on-road focus. after a warm up in the park we will head out to do some cycle training to ensure you know the best methods to ride confidently on the road.

Walking
Explore St George on Foot
Join us for friendly, supported community walks exploring the green spaces, local landmarks, and everyday destinations of St George. Taking place on Sunday 7th September and Sunday 14th September, each walk will start at around 10am and cover an easy 3-mile route, taking approximately 1.5 to 2 hours at a relaxed pace.
6th September

https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e... by the St George Strollers, one walk will focus on the north side of St George, the other on the south, linking together parks, community centres, schools, shopping areas, and GP surgeries. We'll also highlight walking-friendly routes and public transport connections.
The walks will be delivered by St George Strollers.

Group bike rides
We will have a number of sessions with a ride leader who has planned a cycle ride to showcase local routes. This is a sociable casual ride, no lycras necessary! Ride are usually no more than 2-3 hours max, probably more like 2 hours. We often stop for a cafe break.
Upcoming Rides
- Tues 12th Aug 1730 - A gentle ride up the Bristol to Bath Path, via Wesley Way, potentially making a loop back around Oldbury court if the group's ability permits. This is a good one for those who haven't been riding for a while, are beginners or have low confidence.
- Sat 16th Aug 10.00 - We'll ride from Redfield (meet at St George Community Centre) and head into bristol on Wesley way, on quiet roads. We head to the harbourside then do a loop that showcases the paths in the city centre and through Castle Park.
- Sun 7th Sept 10.00 - A longer ride that others we do. Out on Whitchurch Way and into the countryside near Bristol. This is up to 3.5 hours for more confident rides, although on mainly quiet roads.
