Do you want to learn how to maintain your bike and carry out basic repairs? Our maintenance courses will teach you about the essential skills needed to look after and repair your bike! We have a Beginners course, Intermediate course or Combined course (Beginners+Intermediate)

**1-to-1, private bike repair sessions are available too**
Tools, parts, oil and bike stands available to purchase on the day. Feel free to bring your own bike or work on ours. There is a small risk of damage to your own bike e.g. a snapped bolt or something may not be repairable during the course. Advice will be given in this case on how to deal with the issue.

Beginners maintenance course - £49.50
The beginners course is 2.5 hours and will cover:
- General safety check
- Learn the name and function of the various parts
- Replacing an innertube (fixing a puncture)
- How to maintain your chain
- cleaning and lubricating the bike
- bike set up e.g. seat height
- Brakes safety check - how to keep an eye on performance and when to change pads/cables
- Discuss tool kits and what to take on a ride
If time and group ability allow:
- adjusting brakes & replacing pads
- adjusting gears
The Beginners Bike Maintenance Course is designed to give you a good grounding in bike maintenance. You will learn how to maintain the basic functions of the bike including gears, brakes, chain and tyres. You will specifically learn how to replace an innertube and fix a puncture, how to check/oil your chain and how to complete a general bike safety check.
Tools and stands will be provided and stands/multi tools are available to purchase after the course.
Please bring your bike and any tools you have for hygiene reasons, a bike may be available to use if required.

Intermediate maintenance course - £49.50
Good for those who know some basics already as we will not be covering repairing/replacing an innertube/puncture as this takes a good deal of time
The intermediate course is 2.5 hours and will cover:
- General safety check
- Brake pad replacement
- Brake adjustment
- Brake Cable replacement
- Gear alignment/indexing
- How to check for chain/cog wear
- Discuss tool kits and what to take on a ride
- Innertube/puncture repair is not covered, to allow time for more advanced skills
If time and group ability allow:
- Headset adjustment
- Replacing gear cables
- Replacing outer cable housing & Ferrules

Combined maintenance course (Beginner+Intermediate)- £85 at St George Community Centre, BS5
A great foundation in the skills needed to repair the most common issues on your bike. Learn how to monitor the wear of parts and replace the essentials. This course will allow you to become a 'home mechanic', able to repair most minor things yourself - saving money and time.

- Brake adjustment
- Brake Cable replacement
- Gear alignment/indexing
